The experience gained through the pilot training and awareness-raising initiatives within VERA project,
aimed at young people with ASD, their caregivers and professionals in the field, combined with the latest
research and data from scientific literature, has enabled project partners to develop a new document
containing the Policy Recommendations for the prevention of violence agains people with autism. These
policy recommendations are structured across different levels: local, regional/national and European, and
address key themes such as:
– reducing stigma
– preventing violence
– supporting families
– multidisciplinary approach
– empowerment and peer support
– systemic and cultural change
